Bach-Museum auf Zeit
The historical Bose House, home of the Bach Museum, will be thoroughly renovated and extended in 2008. For this reason we have closed our doors at Thomaskirchhof 15/16 until spring 2010. We are pleased to welcome you to a smaller interim Bach-Museum auf Zeit at Thomaskirchhof 14, open daily from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. (admission free)
The Bach-Archiv Leipzig is widely recognized as the world’s pre-eminent centre of Bach scholarship. Comprising a research institute, a library, a museum, and an events department, it occupies the historic Bosehaus complex at St. Thomas Square, opposite the church where Johann Sebastian Bach served as cantor for twenty-seven years. With its unmatched collections and manifold activities the Bach-Archiv contributes significantly to the time-honored image of Leipzig as a “city of music” in general and a “Bach city” in particular.

Leipziger SPINNEREI
As an historical factory the Leipziger Baumwollspinnerei had developed into the largest cotton-spinning mill on the European mainland in the years between 1884 and 1907. Encompassing approximately 12 hectares the area included - in addition to the factory itself - gardens, workers accommodation and a kindergarten. After the decline of cotton yarn production in the early 1990s, the factory was used for different purposes in the following years.
Today art production, presentation and trade have evolved into major activities at SPINNEREI. Over 100 professional artists - just in the area of fine arts - work within the community. Art from Leipzig and from all over the world is presented by 11 galleries and their exhibition spaces

Mendelssohn- House Leipzig
The house in Leipzig, 12 Goldschmidtstraße, has been preserved as the last and sole private residence of the composer Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy. It is of great historical and cultural importance.
Built in 1844, in the style of Late Classicism the house is an important witness of its time and it preserves much of the original building and information about its most prominent occupier who lived with his family on the 1st floor beginning in 1845 and died here November 4 in 1847.
Today, Mendelssohn's flat is a museum in honor of this brilliant German composer, virtuoso and conductor who was also a very good painter and active in the field of cultural and educational policy.
The visitor can experience this flat as an authentic place where many progressive ideas for the European musical life and the world of thought came from.

Asisi PanometerExperience the rainforest at close quarters in Leipzig: The World’s largest 360° panorama at the Asisi Panometer Leipzig AMAZONIA pays homage to Alexander von Humboldt, the greatest German natural scientist, on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of his death in 2009. Throughout his life
Humboldt, who was also a landscape painter, was fascinated by the medium of the panorama. He expressed the wish to see a circular painting portraying the world of nature, rather than the usual themes of battles and cities. And Asisi shares this same fascination. Thanks to the alternating day and night show, you can experience the magical world of the rainforest from sunrise to sunset. Tropical sound effects and the enchanting AMAZONIA music composed by Eric Babak round off the unique panoramic experience. |
