Famous poets like Lessing, Klopstock, Gottsched or Goethe came here. Philosophers like Leibniz, Nietzsche or Bloch have influenced citizens’ thinking until today. Leipzig is very famous for its music all over the world. The city enjoys a long tradition that can be traced back to the work of Bach and Mendelssohn Bartholdy.

Art, science and culture still have a big influence on the city, founded in 1165: several thousand scientists work at almost 20 non- university research institutes, at the university and at six other universities of the city. The „Leipziger Schule“ and the „Baumwollspinnerei“ are leading in the world of art. The Thomanerchor, the Gewandhaus, the many museums and a lively theatre scene coin the city’s cultural life.

After the peaceful revolution, Leipzig developed to one of the booming regions in East Germany and experiences a renaissance to a centre of logistics and high- tech. Today, Leipzig is known for its economic dynamics, a high standard of cultural events, many green areas and not least for an excellent quality of life for families, children as well as the growing number of the elderly in our society. Don’t miss to take a walk through the city.

Mein Leipzig lob' ich mir!
Es ist ein klein Paris
und bildet seine Leute.“
