Diffusion Fundamentals I

Basic Principles of Theory, Experiment and Application
September 22nd - 24th, 2005
Leipzig

150 years after Adolf Fick's and 100 years after Albert Einstein's fundamental papers on diffusion in "Poggendorffs Annalen der Physik und Chemie" and “Annalen der Physik”, respectively, the world-wide community of researchers in the field of diffusion is invited to Leipzig, the place of publication of these papers, to highlight the current developments in the field. Diffusion-Fundamentals I is co-organized by the Universities of Leipzig and Hannover, Sächsische Akademie der Wissenschaften zu Leipzig, Deutsche Physikalische Gesellschaft, Deutsche Bunsengesellschaft für Physikalische Chemie, Gesellschaft Deutscher Chemiker and DECHEMA.

The scientific programme includes invited plenary talks, covering those topics of diffusion theory, experiment and application, which are in the focus of current research, as well as poster presentations about all diffusion-related subjects. The talks will address a broad, interdisciplinary audience rather than only the specialists in the different fields.

Location:
Faculty of Physics and Earth Sciences, Linnéstraße 5, 04103 Leipzig in 15 min-walking distance to the centre.

Fees and payment
The conference will be performed as a low-cost conference benefiting from a comprehensive use of the Internet and an electronic mail system for information exchange and operational purposes. A total of the conference contributions will be published only electronically, as a special volume of the Online-Journal located at the website http://www.diffusion-fundamentals.org. This online publication will accomplish the Conference Volume including the plenary talks and poster abstracts submitted before the 30th of April, 2005 (see below for details).
The participation fee for early registration (till June 30th, 2005) is 185,- Euro, for late registration and cash payers it is 220,- Euro. Please note, that only cash payment can be accepted during the Conference (no credit cards). For early payment, please fill out the registration form.

The price for accompanying persons is 60,- Euro, including all three evening events and the attendance of the “Mottete” in the St. Thomas Church.

Former Alexander von Humboldt awardees are encouraged to ask for travelling support within the Follow-Up Programme of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation (E-mail address: followup@avh.de)
