Career Service for Internationals

The Career Service for Internationals aims to assist and support international students who would like to enter the German labor market after finishing their studies.

International students & graduates face even more challenges than their German peers when searching for a job in Germany. Next to living in and dealing with a different culture & language internationals must apply for a German work & residence permit – if they are non-EU citizen.

At the same time international graduates have a lot to offer:  intercultural experience, additional language skills and the success of having mastered their studies in a foreign country & language. Some internationals even provide former university education and/ or work experience from abroad.

In order to support the employability of international students the Career Service plans to offer the following services (work in progress):

  • Information & Counselling (e.g. on immigration matters, job entry in Germany)
  • Check of application documents: CV and cover letter
  • Workshops/ Seminars/ Lectures (e.g. on intercultural training, the job application process in Germany, improving German language skills for the job environmen)
  •  Getting in touch with companies in the region
  • Information on further services provided by other institutions & organizations (e.g. Information on entrepreneurship)

The  Career Service for Internationals is part of the StiL project (“Studieren in Leipzig”) and funded by the BMBF (Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung).
