Studies in Abilities and Development of Competences

Degrees

Master of Arts (M.A.)

Requirements

First professional university degree, English B2

Description

This non-consecutive master programme links two ground-breaking points of emphasis in a current educational, social and cultural field of activity. It offers the opportunity of theoretical study of concepts for the promotion of ability and competence, with further development and profiling so that programmes and promotion processes can be professionalized. To this end, students who complete the programme not only acquire professional knowledge in the narrower sense but also procedural knowledge of organisation and evaluation and of the quality development and management of promotion measures for abilities and competences. This relates to both school and out-of-school fields of activity and to the fields of adult and further education, social work, business, cultural work, politics and organisations which have set up internal departments for education and learning. The integrated four-semester study programme combines a largely research-oriented field (ability research) with a more application-oriented field (competence development). The link is established by four basic modules that are compulsory for both fields. They are supplemented by six compulsory elective modules for each of the two fields, during which some classes are again attended by both groups of students.
