Requirements

English B2, another foreign language B1 and Latinum or knowledge of Latin with 20 credits. Proof of the English skills at least must be provided at the start of the study programme. Any lack of language skills in Latin or in the second modern foreign language must be made up by registration for the bachelor’s dissertation. The languages are taught using the modules supplied by the university’s Language Centre, in accordance with the regulations for the foreign language modules of the Language Centre at Universität Leipzig.

Description

The study programme in history aims to teach students to research and explain historic events and developments in their context - using the specialist methods of the historian -, to understand the complexity of historic processes and to master and critically evaluate different theoretical viewpoints and concepts in the study of history. During the study programme, basic modules communicate methodological and content-based knowledge, which then leads on to students’ first academic work in subsequent in-depth modules. In the field of key qualifications, emphasis is on gaining expertise in Latin and modern foreign languages, which are of vital importance for historians.
