Economics and Management Science

Degrees

Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.)

Requirements

English B2

Description

On this six-semester programme, the economic activities in companies and within the whole market economy system are analysed and major techniques for planning, organisation and implementation of economic and business management measures learned. The degree constitutes a professional qualification, depending on the major focus chosen, which is then emphasised by a non-university internship completed during the programme. The programme aims to prepare students for professional occupations and to provide them with the necessary knowledge, skills and methods to enable them to handle academic work, to think independently and to act responsibly. In this way, the foundations are laid for professional development and for the ability to continue learning at their own responsibility. Graduates will be able to work in various sections of a socially and economically oriented market economy.

After learning the comprehensive principles of economics and business management science, law for management scientists and the formal sciences of mathematics and statistics, students also have the opportunity of choosing a special subject in business education or technical management - e.g. city development, environmental management, planning and building - together with typical special subjects in the economic and business management fields, thus qualifying for relevant work in companies, in the public sector, in adult education or in planning offices or authorities. In addition, an above-average bachelor programme in economics and management science qualifies students for a master programme, e.g. in management science, in economics or business education (if they have taken it as a special subject).
