Degrees

Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)

Requirements

two-month work experience placement in the sociocultural field; English at B2 level and another modern foreign language at B1 level or English at B2 level and knowledge of Latin

Description

The bachelor programme offers undergraduate training in the field of Theatre Studies which is in line with the current state of research and has a transdisciplinary perspective: theatre as cultural praxis, an art form and an institution, the historical and regional variations of which are examined. This includes considering all contemporary and historical forms of theatre (drama, musical theatre, cultures of dance and movement, performance and media art, puppetry, children’s and youth theatre) but also an examination of theatrical practices beyond institutionalised theatre – such as self-portrayal and ritualization in daily life or the staging of the political. Through integrated ‘Theory-Practice-Transfer’ modules and mandatory work experience placements as well as regular collaboration with theatres and cultural facilities in the context of the Centre of Competence for Theatre (CCT), fundamental knowledge and skills are conveyed which are geared towards their application in theatrical, cultural and social praxis and thus prepare students for current and future professional fields.
