Description

The master programme Early Childhood Research (ECR) is a highly research-oriented two-year degree course offered entirely in English.
The aim of the M.Sc. in Early Childhood Research is to provide highly qualified students with an introduction to the training of internationally competitive top researchers in the field of early childhood development. This study programme is the only master course of its kind in Germany.

Spread across four semesters (120 ECTS), the curriculum addresses a wide range of topics:

       Theories of child development (typical and non-typical)

       Recent empirical studies

       Research methods

       Scientific communication

       Teaching methods

       Research ethics

       Statistical analysis

       A 6-week internship at an active research laboratory

Furthermore, the curriculum covers research-relevant areas including: phylogenesis and ontogenesis of psychological mechanisms, psychopathological developmental processes, cultural variability and cross-species cognition. With its strong focus on research, this study programme provides an opportunity and the conditions for conducting independent empirical studies in various research laboratories.

In Addition to a university career, this qualifitcation aims to prepare students for taking on demanding professional takas with a strong research focus, solving scientific questions independently and conducting and coordinating research.
