Academic Senate

Areas of responsibility

The Academic Senate is responsible for the university-wide academic affairs. Its responsibilities include resolutions on university regulations; decisions concerning the promotion of young academics, teaching, research, art, equal opportunities;  formulation of principles for organising teaching and course activities; establishing principles for evaluating the teaching;  resolutions on the development planning of the University;  proposals for appointing members of the University Council; endorsing the nomination of the University Council for electing the rector.

The senate has set up the following committees:

  • Committee on the Preservation of Quality in Teaching and Education
  • Committee on Equal Opportunity
  • Committee on Economics
  • Standing commission for the investigation of allegations of scientific misconduct

Members

The members who are entitled to vote (senators) are elected representatives of each status group. The rector, vice-rectors, head of administration and finance, deans and equal opportunity commissioners from the University are members of the Senate with an advisory vote. The rector prepares the sessions of the Senate and its committees and takes the chair.
