Research Activities at the Centre
The Centre for Applied Educational Research (ZpB) was established at Universität Leipzig in February 2000. It defines itself as a platform for dialogue and cooperation of persons and institutions involved in the training of teachers.
Interdisciplinarity is a major characteristic of the ZpB, as evidenced by the interdisciplinary approach of the individual research projects undertaken at various departments. This approach ensures that topics are studied not only comprehensively, but that cross-connections and points of contact are established between those departments, which have been working on pedagogic topics independently up to now.
The aim of such research projects is to gain insights into professional educational practice, which will then be used as a basis for decisions made in schools, classrooms, and other areas of educational activity. Main emphasis of the research undertaken at the ZpB is the study of school, teaching, and education. Based on those insights, contributions to the conceptual development of school, teaching, and teacher training are made. Simultaneously, impulses are given for the development of schools and educational planning.
