We, international PhD Students at the University of Leipzig, represent the International Doktoranden Initiaitiv. In tight collaboration with Mrs. Sabine Klimmek and with Ms. Anne-Marie Stresing, PhD, from the Academic Foreign Office of the Leipzig University, we attempt to prepare interesting and attractive program for each semester .

Anahid Babayan
Currently I am a PhD candidate at the Graduate School "Critical Junctures of Globalization" at the University of Leipzig. Originally I come from Armenia. However, I have spent 14 years in Lebanon, graduated school and then earned my Bachelor and Master degrees in Economics and International Relations there. I am a member of the Initiative since January 2009. I organize academic workshops and intercultural events for foreign PhD students so that they can enjoy their academic time in Germany!
Maria Yastrebova
I am a PhD student from Russia studying at the Philological Department. In 2008 I graduated from the University. In Moscow I specialized in Linguistics, but now I am engaged in the research of Russian language spoken in Germany. I work for Doktoranden Initiative since October 2009. My task is the organisation of meetings for PhD students, trips and other events.
Souhaib Aldabbagh
I am a PhD student at the Institute for Virology Max-Bürger-Forschungzentrum. I am from Syria where I completed my studies in 2002 as a vet. Since October 2006 I am active in the Leipzig International Doctoral Initiative. My tasks are organization and implementation of events.

I am doing my research at the School of Philology (Herder Institute). Originally from Russia where I successfully graduated after my study of German Studies and English. In summer semester 2007 I started my postgraduate studies of German as a foreign language. Within my tuition at the Leipzig University I worked for international students during the enrolment weeks. I was an active member of the Initiative from September 2007-2009. Organization and implementation of events belonged to my tasks in the team.
Lusine Karapetyan
Actually, I write my doctoral dissertation at the Psychology faculty Leipzig University (institute for rehabilitation and pedagogic psychology). Originally I came from Ukraine in order to receive my academic degree in Psychology. I engaged myself at the time of my study in the Department for foreign students and in the Student Association of the School of Psychology.
Vigneshwaran Namasivayam
I graduated as a PhD in the field of Bioinformatics in the University of Leipzig. Within the International Doktoranden Initiave I organized the contents of website and its design.
Walid Abd El Gawad
I am from Egypt and am a PhD student at the Oriental Institute in arabic Language and Philosophy. I am an active member of the Initiative since 2006. My primary tasks are to organize the contents and implementation of cultural and political events as well as to support the organization of other events of the Initiative.

PhD Candidate in the Chair for Marketing of the Faculty of Economics. Graduate Research Assistant of the International Program for the small enterprise promotion and training (SEPT) and the Self- Management Initiative Leipzig (SMILE!). Co-founder of the Initiative for PhD Students of the University of Leipzig, with the friendly support of Sabine Klimmek.
