Intensive Language Course for Foreign Researchers, Doctoral Candidates and Students

Who can take part in the intensive language course “RESEARCHING, STUDYING AND LIVING IN LEIPZIG“?
  • Those who work as foreign researchers or doctoral candidates at the University of Leipzig or other Leipzig research institutes and are interested in efficiently expanding their German language skills and competence.
  • Those who are studying and are just about to start their research activities or studies in Germany and want to improve their German language skills beforehand.

What does the course comprise?

The course combines intensive language learning (in groups with a comparable language level) with the chance to get to know Leipzig as a place of research and academic living:

  • Placement test at the beginning of the course
  • Approx. 30 hours of intensive German per week
    • language practice including speaking, listening, reading, and writing
    • phonetic exercises
    • subject oriented project work
  • Final certificate (stating number of lessons and course performance grade)
  • Award of 4 credit points possible
Development of language competence and skills
  • Development of oral and written abilities in communication and expression
  • Intensive vocabulary and grammar work
  • Training of listening and reading comprehension
Getting to know Germany
  • Area studies program (cultural activities, movie nights, student club events, festive opening event and closing ceremony)
  • Supervision and support by lecturers and student tutors
  • Excursion offer at the weekends (extra fee)

What do we offer?

  • Small groups (approx. 10 participants per group)
  • At least two language levels depending on previous knowledge
  • Intensive language training (4 to 6 units at 45 min each per day)
  • Time: Mondays through Fridays
  • Free access to the university library and the university computer labs during the language course

6 September (Arrival) - 25 September 2010 (Departure)

Closing Date for Registration: 4 weeks prior to the beginning of a course (if you reserved a room in a student dormitory) or once the maximum number of participants has been reached

How much are the course fees?

The course fees are € 495.00.
The course fees include the enrolment fee, classes, phonetic exercises, project work, opening event and closing ceremony as well as teaching and course materials.

Please note:
Health, third party and accident insurance are not provided by our institution. You must make these arrangements before the beginning of the course and bring the certificate of insurance with you.

  2. Send this registration form to interDaF by mail or fax.

  3. As soon as the registration form has arrived, you will receive an E-mail confirmation of enrolment. This letter contains all the information on the course and on payment.

The courses take place at the up-to-date equipped rooms of our institute in Lumumbastraße 4. Click here to find us.

You can live

  • in an apartment in a student dormitory without breakfast:
    fully furnished, small kitchen, internet access (Please read the instructions given in your letter of invitiation.)
    250.00 € (single room)

Please note:
Accommodation arranged by us is only available for the duration of the course and can not be extended. Further information about other available accommodation in Leipzig you can find here.

Where can you eat?

Close to our institue you will find a variety of little cafés and restaurants. The city centre with its manifold gastronomical offers is not far away, either.
As one of our participants you may also eat at the new student cafeteria „Mensa am Park“.
