Guided general historical city walk
In
1.5 hour you will receive information about the tradition of Leipzig.
The City is famous for exhibitions, commerce, music and book printing.
Furthermore, you will get details about their famous buildings and
their famous people. Discover hidden places and listen to stories
about the famous people lived here.
This tour starts on the "St Thomas Church" churchyard.
It's one of the most important historical places in Leipzig. The
famous cantor Johann Sebastian Bach lived and worked here for a
long time. On your further tour you will see the central market
and numerous small streets with historical backround. Take a trip
to one of the oldest European coffeehouses "Zum Arabischen
Coffe Baum" (to the Arabian coffee tree). Famous peoples like
the writers E.T.A. Hoffmann, Gottsched, Lessing and the composer
Robert Schumann took a coffee inside. At the end of this tour we'll
reach the old Leipzig trading site with its historical charm.

Guided special historical city walks
"Neues Rathaus" - 100 years city hall in Leipzig -
tour from the catacombs to the tower
The
city hall called "Leipziger Rathaus" has been the residence
of the Leipzig mayors for the last 100 years.
It was built in historical style by the architect Hugo Licht, inspired
by the old "Pleißenburg" castle which was situated
at the same place in former times.
The tour is a voyage through the history. You will see the ceremonial
hall, the catacomb and from the tower we will have a beautiful view
over the city.

Alma mater lipsiensis - the history of the Leipzig University
600
years ago, a group of professors and students settled over from
Prague to Leipzig. They founded the University in Leipzig.
The university got the old vacant monastery from the order for Dominicans
in 1543.
On our tour through the old city centre, you will recognize that
the history of the university and the history of the city are closely
connected. Buildings, monuments and streets will be introduced,
showing the long tradition of this university, their professors
and students.
Reports from this time are telling stories about the student life
and historical persons who lived in Leipzig.

Excursion to Leipzig Canopy Crane Site
Twice
a day (in the morning and in the afternoon) from Monday to Saturday,
the opportunity to visit the Leipzig crane site will be offered.

Opencast mining landscapes & Fürst Pückler Parks
Unfortunately, we had to cancel the excursions
Opencast mining landscapes" (Sunday, 17 July 2005, 9:00
a.m., EUR 30) and "Fürst Pückler Parks" (Sunday,
17 July 2005, 8:00 a.m., EUR 50) due to a lack of participants.
Excursion fees that are already transferred to the conference account
will of course be refunded in Leipzig.
We are very sorry for any inconveniences this may cause.
