Future aspects
A facsimile transmission or e-mail of reports directly to the referring clinicians' offices will be incorporated. Since the laboratories become increasingly automated, e.g. computer assisted sperm
analysis (CASA), they need integration of these systems into the database. For the CASA systems of Mika an interface is in preparation. Generally, it is possible to integrate Hamilton systems, too
(personal communication). The complete logistic software for a cryobank is another module which will be realised. It includes all tools for maintaining and administrating of cryosperm data.
It is widely accepted that the keyboard, mouse, card-reader, touch - screens and even bar codes are not the best way of data entry. Although hard- and software develops the voice recognising systems are
still in experimental stage. From our point of view this technology will be the coming trend and implemented as soon as possible. On demand the database can be equipped with a web user interface that
allows data entry from various platforms (PC-compatible, Macintosh, and UNIX workstations) anywhere of the world.
