The "Internationales Begegnungszentrum" is the most modern guesthouse of Leipzig University. It is idyllically situated at the entrance of the Friedenspark, half-way between the city centre and the Battle of Leipzig-Monument. The university clinic and the natural sciences institutes are nearby, so is the renowned Deutsche Bücherei.

How to get there

By car via Prager Strasse and Ostplatz; underground parking is available; by tram (number 15) to the stop "Ostplatz". The IBZ is six minutes by tram and 15-20 minutes walking-distance from the city centre.

The "Internationales Begegnungszentrum" has 24 completely furnished and equipped apartments including kitchen, radio, television, access to the internet and to the university telephone system: six 1-room apartments, 12 2-room apartments and six 3-room apartments.

Further housing amenities are provided by underground parking, a laundry, a storage room for bikes with a table-tennis table and a children's playground.

A technologically well equipped conference room and a club room for guests, with library, television and piano are located on the ground floor.

The light-flooded lobby in winter garden style offers seating and is designed as an open meeting space. In the midst of the Italian-style atrium the sculpture "Chimborazo" is suspended from the glass ceiling.

For all new contracts from January 1st, 2007 is valid that all flats of the IBZ are non smoking flats.
