TV and Radio programming
| Since 2008 Baures has a local radio station (“FM”) and a TV program (“El canal”). Baures FM is running from early morning until night, broadcasting music, local news and interviews, and birthday greetings or the like. The TV program broadcasts half an hour of local news and interviews daily at noon. Sometimes, there are additional broadcasts of dances or fiestas in the Beni on TV. In 2008 we started to select data or collect specifically for the radio station. So, short narratives were given to the radio station in order to have them transmitted through the air. |

In 2009 this kind of action was extended, because it is actually quite an effective way to make anything public and to reach also the ears of people in the small communities. We recorded short interviews for radio and/or TV, for example on language endangerment or language use in former times. The local TV program is usually reporting only in Spanish of local events. When we are in the community, we try to produce short interviews in Baure, in addition, which are then broadcasted in the news as well.
Radio games
In 2009 we started the game “Palabra de la semana”. Every week we gave a new difficult Baure word to the radio station. This word was pronounced various times on the radio during the week, until finally somebody would come and know the meaning of the word. The winner who comes first to explain the Baure word wins 5 Bolivianos. This money was sponsored by the Baure Team members. The game was a great succes, because people started discussing each specific word, and through this the Baure language again resounded through the town.
