Panel 67: Spaces of (In)Security (Thomas Kirsch)

Panel Organiser: Thomas Kirsch

In recent decades, many African countries have experienced transfigurations in the provision of human security. These transfigurations are triggered by the increased prominence of new security providers, each of whom enacts specific “spatialities of security”. We invite papers that explore conflicts at the interface of different “spatialities of security” and that pay attention to the fact that attempts to increase the security for some people often imply the decrease of security of others.
