Name
Custody of the University of Leipzig
History
Leipzig's University is in custody of art works ranging from the 14th century to the present. Sculpture, painting, the graphic arts and the applied arts are all represented in the Collection, which even includes pieces that are actually permanent parts of existing buildings. The University's duty as custodian of the Collection, which mirrors the University's history, is the upkeep and augmentation of the Collection, as well as the solicitation and publication of scholarly research on the holdings. The Collection can be viewed at changing exhibitions in the Kroch House at Leipzig's Augustusplatz and in the Auditorium Building of the University.
