et de Régulation Cellulaire
University of Bordeaux

The department of Electron microscopy supplies transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) with energy dispersive X-ray microanalysis. These tools allow to spot individual particles at the ultrastructural cellular level by imaging or qualitatively by X-ray analysis. Moreover the group has a long-standing experience with biomedical research especially normal skin and skin diseases related with hyper- or hypopigmentation and nevi. The group has developed an ex-vivo model of reconstructed human skin including melanocytes on de-epidermized dermis. UV-stimulation studies are performed on such models. Over the years, the laboratory created and developed links with industries working in the biological field, e.g. cosmetic companies.
