Welcome at the Department of Social Psychology
Social Psychology is the
„attempt to understand and explain how the thought, feeling, and
behavior of individuals are influenced by the actual, imagined, or
implied presence of others.“ (G. Allport, 1954).
The Leipzig social psychology group is particularly interested in the following issues.
- Intragroup and intergroup processes (e.g., social influence, collective action, conflicts)
- Motivated social cognition (e.g., basic psychological needs, impact of threat)
- Social psychology of the environmental crisis (e.g., pro-environmental behavior)
