Moren sind der Kernbestandteil für das Standardmodell der Silbenstruktur und sind gleichzeitig zentral für die Analyse von Gewichtssensitivität in der metrischen Phonologie (Hayes 1989, Zec 1995, Morén 1999, Hall 2000). In diesem Seminar diskutieren wir wesentliche Argumente für die Annahme von Moren, alternative Ansätze innerhalb der Moren-Theorie (z.B. die Annahme von Onset-Moren, Topintzi 2008), aber auch grundsätzliche Alternativen zur Annahme von Moren (z.B. das strikte CVCV-Modell der Silbenstruktur, Scheer 2004). Weitere Schwerpunkte sind die Rolle von Moren bei der Repräsentation von Geminaten (Hume et al. 1997), bei kompensatorischer Längung (Kavitskaya 2002) und in der prosodischen Morphologie (Davis & Ueda 2006).
