On August 7th 2025, Harin Lee successfully defended the doctoral thesis titled "Cross-cultural differences in music cognition". Dr Lee will continue his research work as a Junior Research Fellow at King’s College, University of Cambridge, UK. He will run independent project about understanding the global human rhythm. Using the audio data sampled from ten thousand radio stations across 220 countries around the world, he’ll investigate if people’s rhythm in speech in those places correlate with their musical rhythms. With this high spatial granularity, Dr Lee envisions to construct a “Global Rhythm Map” that provides insights about how different cultures are more or less connected rhythmically. We wish Dr Lee all the best for his future career!
