Abstract
Soil microbial communities are complex, dynamic, and central to the functioning of terrestrial ecosystems. Yet, our understanding of how they respond to stressors--both intentional and unintentional--limits our ability to manage and safeguard soil microbial communities in an increasingly volatile world. I will present my studies of the responses of the soil microbiome to various disturbances and explore how a better understanding of secondary succession can improve the development of sustainable, holistic, and climate resilient management practices.
