Press release K2021/018 from

The walk-in coronavirus test centre at Leipzig University Hospital (UKL) will temporarily cease operations on 22 February. The reason for this is the steady decline in visitor numbers in recent weeks.

The walk-in coronavirus test centre at the UKL, which was set up almost a year ago, reopened on 10 November after temporarily closing at the end of August.

In November and December 2020, the centre tested up to 170 people for SARS-CoV-2 every day. Fortunately, these figures have fallen steadily since the start of the year. The walk-in centre, including the dental clinic for people with coronavirus, will close from February 22 until further notice. Dental appoints for persons who have tested positive for coronavirus will resume on Monday in a separate room at the UKL’s dental clinic.

Should infection rates climb again, the walk-in centre can reopen at any time.

People who would like to be tested for coronavirus can contact doctors’ surgeries, as well as the main practices of the Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians (KV) and practices in the UKL’s MedVZ mecical centre.
