With its new podcast series entitled Arqus Knowledge Pills, the Arqus European University Alliance brings the research expertise of its seven partner universities directly to listeners. Lasting around 15 to 20 minutes each, the episodes will include a discussion with researchers from the universities of Bergen, Granada, Graz, Lyon, Padua, Vilnius and, of course, Leipzig. The focus is on special research areas of societal relevance as well as current affairs.

The first episode will be published in time for the European Researchers’ Night on 27 November 2020. In it, the pharmacist Andreas Kungl (University of Graz) talks about the research project “Stop Covid-19”. The project is researching a drug to prevent the coronavirus from entering human cells. In the podcast, Professor Kungl describes how he has taken advantage of the fact that tumour cells spread in a similar way to virus cells. This allowed Kungl to work with findings from cancer research and use them as a basis.

Episodes of Arqus Knowledge Pills will be released at regular intervals on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, anchor.fm and other channels and are available for subscription. The interviews will be conducted by Gerhild Leljak (University of Graz) and Pietro Osti (University of Padua).
