A new international degree programme at Leipzig University focuses on the connection between sport and psychology. As the first master’s programme at the Faculty of Sport Science to be taught in English, the Sport and Exercise Psychology MSc programme is designed to appeal in particular to internationally minded students.

In the new degree programme, students will learn about the foundations and practical application of sport psychology in competitive and recreational sports, and health and fitness. The teaching combines theory and practice: among other things, students will attend academic conferences, be trained in project management, and practise skills such as moderation. A semester abroad with the option of a double master’s degree or an internship are also possible.

The new MSc degree programme in Sport and Exercise Psychology fills a gap in the academic landscape, especially in eastern Germany: a comparable degree programme in English is currently only offered at another higher education institution in North Rhine-Westphalia. Applications for places starting in the winter semester 2021/22 can be submitted via the Leipzig University application portal until 31 May.
