Jörg Henning Hüsemann studied Sinology, General Linguistics and Anthropology at the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster and received his Ph.D. in Sinology at the University of Hamburg for a thesis on the Shuijing zhu. Since 2013 he works as a lecturer at the East Asian Institute of Leipzig University. His research and teaching focuses on the history of agriculture, science, technology, and the environment in China. His current research project deals with the history of Chinese fertilizers. In 2017 his monograph "Das Altertum vergegenwärtigen - eine Studie zum Shuijing zhu des Li Daoyuan" was published by Leipzig University Press.
