Abstract

After studying German, Medieval and Modern History (Magister) as well as German, History and Education at the University of Leipzig, I was a research assistant for the DFG project "Edition der sämtlichen Briefe Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdys" at the Institute of Musicology at the University of Leipzig from 2005 to 2012. In 2011, I received my doctorate (Dr. phil.) summa cum laude from the University of Leipzig with a study on the reception of the Middle Ages in children's and youth literature from the 18th century to 1945. After positions as a research assistant for the field of children's and youth literature research/didactics of literature at the University of Bielefeld (2012-2014), at the Center for Teacher Education at the TU Chemnitz (2014-2016), I have been working with a focus on children's and youth literature/didactics of literature at the Institute for Pedagogy and Didactics in Elementary and Primary Education at the Faculty of Education at the University of Leipzig since 2016

My current research focuses are:



  • History, systematics, and theory of children's and young adult literature from the 18th century to the present.
  • non-fiction/non-fiction books for children and adolescents
  • Children's and youth literature and visual education (text-image relationships)
  • Children's and youth literature of the GDR
  • Publishing history of children's and youth literature
  • Children's and Youth Literature and Digital Humanities



Among other things, I am co-editor of the journal kjlm. Forschung.Schule.Bibliothek and a member of the scientific advisory board of the Jahrbuch Kinder- und Jugendliteraturforschung.



In addition, I have published together with Holger Steinberg on the history of psychiatry (Johann Christian August Heinroth, the "Woyzeck case") as well as on the literary history of the 18th and 19th centuries, on the work of Erich Kästner and was involved in the edition of the complete letters of Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy as a volume editor.
