Abstract

I am a doctoral researcher in the working group "Systematic Botany and Functional Biodiversity" and a member of the Research Training Group "Economics of Connected Natural Commons" (ECO-N). My research focuses on the contribution of individual tree species to ecosystem services or NCPs.

One research focus addresses human–nature relationships, with particular emphasis on cultural interactions between people and trees. I investigate how these interactions can be identified and quantified, and whether certain tree species hold an unique cultural significance in Germany. Methodologically, I combine approaches and data such as text analysis, surveys, and online databases.

A second focus examines the effects of climate change on the cooling potential of individual tree species. Using temperature sensors, xylem sap flow measurements, and LiDAR data, I analyze how increasing aridity and future drought events may influence species-specific cooling processes.
