Abstract

Nina Kolleck is political scientist, educational researcher and full professor at Leipzig University. Previously, she held professorships at RWTH Aachen and FU Berlin and visiting professorships at the University of California Berkeley, the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and Tel Aviv University.


She completed her studies (including political science, education, economy and European studies) in Potsdam, Caen and Quito, among others, with diplomas in Germany and France. Subsequently, she received her doctorate and habilitated from the FU Berlin. 


She received the 'Award for Research Cooperation and Highest Excellence in Science' from the Max Planck Society (with Dr. Yemini). Her research is funded by various funding organizations (including DFG, BMBF, EU). She is a member of various scientific advisory boards, advises different federal ministries and acts as an anonymous reviewer for the central funding organizations.

Professor Kolleck's research profile is characterized by a comprehensive approach to questions of civic education and educational systems with strong disciplinary ties and a focus on (extra)school educational processes. Current thematic focuses include democracy education, global citizenship education, educational equity, education for sustainable development, climate education, heterogeneity and inclusion, international public administration, and quantitative and qualitative research methods, especially techniques of social network analysis. Her projects are funded by various funding institutions, such as the DFG or the Max Planck Society. 

She is chair of the Empirical Educational Research Section, a member of various scientific advisory boards, advises different federal ministries, and acts as an anonymous reviewer for the central funding organizations (including DFG, BMBF). 

Results of her research have been published in the recognized political science and educational science books and journals, such as Journal of Education Policy, Journal of European Public Policy, Global Environmental Politics, Journal of Comparative Policy Analysis: Research and Practice, Environmental Education Research, Journal of Educational Administration, Journal of Environmental Education, or Educational Management Administration & Leadership, among others.
