German Research Foundation

Leipzig University is in charge of 20 coordinated programmes funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG). Interdisciplinary collaborative research is becoming increasingly important. There are also ten DFG-funded Junior Research Groups.

Research Funding by the EU

With its Seventh Framework Programme (FP7) for research, which lasted from 2007 to 2013, and the subsequent Framework Programme for Research and Innovation Horizon 2020, which runs from 2014 to 2020, the European Union has funded around 140 projects at Leipzig University.
