The master programme in Translatology prepares students for a professional occupation in the field of specialist intercultural communication in practical applications, teaching or research. Students can choose either a more research-oriented major focus (Applied Linguistics) or a more application- oriented major focus (Specialised Translation).

The subject and content of the programme is teaching methodological and theoretical knowledge for the targeted addressing and mastering of typical problems in translation and specialist intercultural communication, in particular: specific strategies for knowledge acquisition and transfer, including the cultural contexts relevant to translation, production of texts oriented to purpose and recipients, terminological, lexicographic and translation methods, aids and technologies, quality management, project management.

The target of the programme is to acquire the necessary methodological knowledge, abilities and skills in the fields of translatology, specialist communication, language technology, terminology and specialist translation, enabling students

a) to analyse specialist texts, interpret their content correctly in the language of origin and transfer them to the target language with due consideration of all translation-relevant internal and external text factors, ensuring the desired quality and using suitable technical aids,                                                                     b) to handle translation projects with due orientation to practice and standards,

c) to steer and assess translation quality.
