You should not suffer any disadvantages for your studies as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. Here we inform you about current arrangements regarding the standard period of study and having semesters not count.

Extension of the Standard Period of Study Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic

Under Sect. 114a of the Saxon Freedom of Higher Education Act (SächsHSFG), students who were enrolled in the summer semester 2020, the winter semester 2020/21 and/or the summer semester 2021, and who did not take a leave of absence, will receive an extension to their individual standard period of study for each of these semesters.

This extension of the standard period of study will take effect for all students without the need to apply. Corresponding certificates of extension of the individual standard period of study will be uploaded to each student’s AlmaWeb account.

Information About Not Having Semesters Count

If you applied to have the summer semester 2020 not count towards your standard period of study, this will still apply.

As regards any obligation to pay fees pursuant to Sect. 12(2) Sentence 1 and (4) Sentence 2 of the SächsHSFG, it will not be possible to benefit twice.
