Are you considering applying at Leipzig University? Application periods and deadlines depend on a number of factors. They vary according to the degree programme, the semester for which you wish to apply, whether or not admission to the degree programme is restricted, and whether you will be commencing your studies in the summer semester or winter semester.

Semester Dates

  • The winter semester begins on 1 October and ends on 31 March.
  • The summer semester semester begins on 1 April and ends on 30 September.

As part of the application you will be required to provide evidence of credits already acquired.

The beginning of June until 15 July (online application)

Once you have applied online, please print the registration document generated after your online application, sign it and hand it in to the Student Office along with the necessary evidence by no later than 21 July.

The beginning of May until 31 May (online application)

For further information on submitting documents, please refer to the pages of the relevant Study Office.

As part of the application you will be required to provide evidence of credits already acquired.

The beginning of May until 15 July (online application)

Once you have applied online, please print the registration document generated after your online application, sign it and hand it in to the Student Office along with the necessary evidence by no later than 21 July.

You can apply online for study programmes in the DoSV procedure from 1 July until 20 August 2020. Further information is also available on the Stiftung für Hochschulzulassung website.

Online applications for programmes in the central allocation procedure are possible as follows:

  • for current school leavers (Neuabiturienten): 1 July–20 August
  • for school leavers from past years (Altabituienten): 1 July–25 July

All application periods and deadlines are binding!
Applications submitted outside the application periods cannot be considered in the admission and enrolment procedures.

  • Online applications must have been submitted in the online portal by midnight on the final day of the application period.
  • Documents must have been received by post by midnight on the submission deadline.

Summer Semester Application Periods

Online applications through uni-assist end on 1 March for German applicants.

The registration document generated after your online application must be printed, signed and submitted to uni-assist along with the necessary evidence; it must reach uni-assist by no later than 31 March.
