Are you considering applying at Leipzig University? Application periods and deadlines depend on a number of factors. They vary according to the degree programme, the semester for which you wish to apply, whether or not admission to the degree programme is restricted, and whether you will be commencing your studies in the summer semester or winter semester.

Semester dates

  • The winter semester begins on 1 October and ends on 31 March.
  • The summer semester semester begins on 1 April and ends on 30 September.

Winter Semester Application Periods

Online application: 2 May–15 July

Once you have applied online, if you are submitting a special application (Sonderantrag) then please print this, sign it and hand it in to the Student Office along with the necessary evidence by no later than 21 July.

Attention: uni-assist has a different deadline!

For German applicants, the application period at uni-assist ends on 15 July. This applies to online applications as well as to submitting the requisite documents by post.

As part of the application you will be required to provide evidence of credits already acquired.

Online application: 2 May–15 July

Once you have applied online, please print the registration document generated after your online application, sign it and hand it in to the Student Office along with the necessary evidence by no later than 21 July.

Applications submitted outside the application periods cannot be considered in the admission and enrolment procedures.

  • Online applications must have been submitted in the online portal by midnight on the final day of the application period.
  • Documents must have been received by post by midnight on the submission deadline.

Summer Semester Application Periods
