Born in 1958 in Munich

Studies in Philosophy (Bakkalaureat, 1982) and Psychology (Diploma, 1986) in Munich ; Dr. phil. in Psychology (major: Psychology; minor: Statistics, Philosophy) in 1991 and Habilitation in Psychology in 1996 at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München

Since 1997 Professor for Cognitive and Biological Psychology at Leipzig University (with various academic obligations such as Director of the Institute for General Psychology, Dean for Study Affairs in Psychology, Dean of the Faculty of Biosciences, Pharmacy and Psychology)

Elected Member and Speaker of the Grant Council "Psychology" of the German Research Foundation (DFG) from 2004 to 2011; 2009 Reinhart-Koselleck Grant (DFG); since 2013 Member of the Selection Committee for the Allocation of Alexander von Humboldt Foundation Research Awards
