Our guest apartments at Ritterstraße 12 are located in the middle of the city centre. The residential and commercial building housing them was erected in the late 1980s at the former site of the old Buchhändlerbörse, after the original university building was completely destroyed in the Second World War.

In the immediate vicinity of our university and St. Nicholas’ Church, here you will find yourself right in the cultural centre of Leipzig. You may want to pay a visit to Leipzig’s opera house and the Gewandhaus, or perhaps to popular restaurants and well-known cabaret establishments, all of which can be reached on foot in a few minutes.

Accessibility and parking

Ritterstraße is about a five-minute walk from the main station. Our university’s centrally located buildings and the Augustusplatz campus are just a stone’s throw away. Unfortunately there is no free parking in the inner courtyard of Ritterstraße 12. Only the paid parking spaces in the adjacent streets and in the underground car park at Augustusplatz are available.

The University offers a total of 13 apartments on the sixth floor of Ritterstraße 12. There are:

  • four one-room apartments
  • six two-room apartments
  • three three-room apartments.

The maisonette apartments have a kitchen, a living/dining room and a separate toilet in the lower area as well as a bathroom and a living room upstairs. The three-room apartments also have a separate bedroom. It is possible to add an extra bed. The building does not have a lift.

Handing over the keys

You will need to make an appointment (during our office hours) to receive the keys as well as to return your apartment at the end of your stay. If this is not possible due to time constraints, your host will be expected to attend these appointments on your behalf in order to receive your keys and/or return your apartment.
