If personal data is collected on the Leipzig University website (e.g. when registering for events), we request your consent in advance.

If, in individual cases, Leipzig University processes personal data, the data subject may at any time request information about the personal data processed about them (“right of access”) and about possible recipients of the data to whom it has been transmitted. Leipzig University is required to provide this information within one month of receiving the data subject’s request for information.

Information obligations on the part of the University

Leipzig University would like to point out in particular that

  • Data processing in our campus management system, AlmaWeb, is carried out by Leipzig University exclusively for the purposes of admitting students and conducting studies in accordance with Sect. 14(1) No. 1 of the Saxon Freedom of Higher Education Act (SächsHSFG),
  • The data processing is carried out on the basis of the following legal and statutory provisions:
    • Sect. 14, 17 and 18 SächsHSFG
    • Sect. 25 of the Leipzig University enrolment regulations
    • Sect. 2, 3 and 6 of the Saxon Ordinance on Personal Data in Higher Education (SächsHSPersDatVO)
    • Sect. 3(1) of the Higher Education Statistics Act (HStatG).
  • Unless otherwise stipulated by law or you have consented in individual cases, your data will not be transferred to third parties and your personal data will be erased at the earliest possible time after your exmatriculation in compliance with Sect. 18(2) SächsHSPersDatVO,
  • You may at any time request information about the personal data processed concerning you as well as the possible recipients of such data to whom it has been transferred, and that you are entitled to receive a response within one month of receipt of the request for information, and
  • The data subject has the right to object, on grounds relating to their particular situation, at any time to processing of personal data concerning them which occurs on the basis of Art. 6(1) Sentence 1(e) of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
  • The controller will then no longer process the personal data unless the controller demonstrates compelling legitimate grounds for the processing which override the interests, rights and freedoms of the data subject or for the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims.
  • You can contact Leipzig University’s data protection officer and the competent supervisory authority for data protection at any time if you believe that your right to protection of your personal data has been violated in the processing of your personal data or if access has not been provided or has not been provided in full.

Privacy information

Please log out after each session and close your web browser. Only if you log out will your data will be protected from access by other parties. This is especially true if you have logged in from a public computer, PC pool or internet cafe.

We use the web analytics program Matomo (formerly Piwik). This program enables us to record information about how our website is used and, if necessary, to optimise it. During this process, your IP address is immediately anonymised so that we cannot draw any conclusions about you as a user. The information obtained in this way will not be disclosed to third parties.
