The political scientist and educationalist and head of the BMBF meta-project in the funding guideline "Cultural Arts Education in Rural Areas" Professor Nina Kolleck has received one of the Starting Grants of the European Research Council (ERC), funded with around 1.5 million euros, for her research.

In the BMBF meta-project of the funding guideline "Cultural Education in Rural Areas", it has already become clear: associations fill gaps in education systems that used to be the responsibility of states and governments (cf. Kolleck and Fischer 2023, forthcoming). Thus, they and other NGOs have become significant actors in the education sector, alongside state institutions, international organisations and companies. However, due to their transnational cooperation with other NGOs, their role and influence differ from that of traditional actors, explains Professor Nina Kolleck of the MetaKLuB meta-project.

This transnational influence of NGOs on education systems, which has not yet been examined, is to be explored with the help of funding from the Starting Grant of the European Research Council. Read more here.
