You will see how you can use punctuation to effectively guide your reader; learn the rules for when to set a comma, semicolon, and other punctuation marks; and practice proofreading with a focus on punctuation and consistent style.

You’ve written your paper and edited the content, but now you want to polish it up and turn in a stellar final draft? If so, come to this workshop. We will first cover the basics of punctuation and do some practice exercises at the sentence and paragraph levels. Next, we will tackle some trickier cases from The Copyeditor’s Handbook by Einsohn and Schwartz, and you will get the practice you need to become a pro at punctuation. We will also look at the resources you need to turn in a paper that uses a consistent style: style guide, dictionary, and online searches. And we will use a proofreading checklist to do some proofreading together. Follow-up will be provided at the Language Clinic.
