Grammar and Language for Academic Writing: Word Order Choices
At this workshop, you will learn techniques to more effectively implement English word order, organize information, and improve flow, and then practice these skills at both the sentence and text levels.
Does English word order sometimes stump you? Do your sentences still sound a bit unnatural? Join us to untangle some of the common mistakes that writers sometimes make with word order and sentence structure and bring your academic writing up to the next level. We will focus on S-V-O constructions, “disturbing middle elements,” and old-to-new information flow. You’ll also get insight into how constructions in your native language might throw off the typical structure of English sentences. Sentences that flow smoothly from one to the next and solid paragraphs are the building blocks that you need to produce a great piece of academic writing. We look forward to seeing you there!
