Wheelchair-accessible minibus
A wheelchair-accessible minibus seating up to eight passengers enables the transportation of people with disabilities and chronic illnesses. An integrated ramp provides access for up to two wheelchair users. An additional six seats (including the driver) are available when transporting two wheelchair users.
Help with mental health-related issues
Our university support centres offer students free and confidential assistance with mental health problems while studying. This includes doubts about the choice of degree course, anxieties and fears, difficulties making contact, feelings of depression, experience with violence or sexual assault, or problems with alcohol or drugs. In addition, we can also provide you with contacts and assistance in urgent crisis situations.

Accessible workstations and resources
A disability or chronic illness must not result in disadvantages. Consequently, there are four accessible workstations and technical resources available that students can borrow when studying and taking examinations.
- The workstations are located on the Augustusplatz campus in the seminar building, room S-013, and are easily accessible. Lectures can be made available via live stream or as a recording, known as hybrid teaching. If the corresponding technology is not available on site, this service enables the use of a mobile camera system. Both students and teaching staff can submit a request to use the system.

Blind and visually impaired students at the Leipzig University receive support in researching, obtaining and preparing barrier-free literature. Please send the details of the required literature via the Leipzig University Library web form. If the required literature is not yet available in accessible form for blind and visually impaired people, the order will be passed on to the preparation service of the University Library. If you have any questions or comments, you can reach the service by email.
Assistance dogs are specially trained dogs that support people with a disability, chronic or mental illness in their everyday lives. Assistance dogs are legally considered aids and may therefore be carried in all public buildings. Since 01.07.2021, this has been legally anchored in the Disability Equality Act § 12e and regulated in more detail. Access with assistance dogs can only be denied if this would constitute a disproportionate or unreasonable burden.

As a rule, you must apply for a compensation of disadvantages in order to be allowed to use a barrier-free workplace or technical aids in an examination. You submit this application to the relevant examination board before the examination. Your study office will be happy to advise you on this. Make use of your right to study with equal opportunities!

The wheelchair-accessible minibus can be borrowed by employees of our university via the Office for Equality, Diversity and Family Affairs.
Euro WC key for disabled toilets
Members and staff of our university with disabilities or chronic illnesses receive a Euro WC key for barrier-free toilets free of charge. You can borrow the key for the entire duration of your studies or employment. Contact us to arrange an appointment to pick up the key. Please bring your proof of entitlement and 10 euros in cash for the deposit with you to pick up the key.
Proof of eligibility
Proof of eligibility consists of the German disabled person's ID card bearing an aG, B, H, BL, or G mark and 70 per cent upwards.
The following are also eligible:
- People with severe walking impairments
- Wheelchair users
- Ostomy patients
- People who are blind
- People suffering from multiple sclerosis
- People suffering from chronic bladder or bowel disease, Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis
If a disability cannot be proven otherwise, a doctor's certificate will be accepted. This applies in particular to people from countries that do not have a comparable ID system. In this case, a European parking permit for the severely disabled is sufficient proof.
