This course’s aim is to provide PhD students with more in-depth knowledge on research methods, publication strategies and career perspectives in sport and exercise psychology.

Through a combination of lectures and workshops, participants will gain insights into Qualitative Studies (Prof. Tatiana Ryba, University of Jyväskylä, Finland), Measuring Implicit Motives (Prof. Mirko Wegner, University of Hamburg, Germany), Physical Activity Interventions (Prof. Cecilie Thøgersen-Ntoumani, University of Southern Denmark, Denmark), and Meta Analysis (Prof. Antonis Hatzigeorgiadis, University of Thessaly, Greece). Furthermore, Prof. Xavier Sanchez (University of Orléans, University Paris Saclay, France) will provide a workshop on Publication Strategies and how to prepare a  manuscript for submission. Ass. Prof. Franzi Lautenbach (Humboldt University of Berlin, Germany) will talk about Self Care during  one’s PhD studies and Dr. Nadja Walter (Leipzig University) will address the topics of Authorship, Open Science and the Use of AI in her workshop.

In a Q&A session about career pathways in academia, the PhD candidates can ask professors Dorothee Alfermann and Anne-Marie Elbe (Leipzig University) career questions and receive career advice. In an “Ask the editor session” with professors Anne-Marie Elbe and Antonis Hatzigeorgiadis PhD students can get a glimps of  of what editors look for in manuscript submissions.

Finally, Bernadette Ramaker (ENYSSP president) will host an evening session about PhD students’ opportunities for a career in the applied field and Prof. Heike Tiemann (Leipzig University) will get participants physically active in her Sport and Inclusion workshop.

Participants also have the opportunity to present their PhD projects and to receive valuable feedback from experts and fellow students. And, individual supervision sessions can be booked with the experts.

Overall, this one-week course will enable communication, networking, and cooperation among students and experts. In addition to the the scientific content, there will be enough time for a rich social programme including sightseeing, physical activities and an evening out in a pub.
