The movie nights at the Institute for South and Central Asian Studies are kicking off a new season.

Dancing, singing, dramatic close-ups, and pure Bollywood—that’s what Indian movies are all about, right? Well, in our movie nights, we’ll show you that South Asian cinema goes far beyond Bollywood. Get ready for a vibrant mix of independent films, smaller productions, blockbusters, and a variety of languages. Of course, we’ll also feature some Bollywood classics, so there’s truly something for everyone!

All films will be shown in their original languages with English subtitles, and we welcome everyone to share their thoughts afterward. These movie nights are connected to the current seminars at the Institute for South and Central Asian Studies, but no prior knowledge is required, and everyone is invited to join!

We’re excited to explore South Asian cinema with you all! The full schedule is attached as a PDF and also available on our Instagram, where we’ll post reminders and movie synopses. Our movie nights are a cozy gathering, so feel free to bring drinks, snacks, or your dinner. We look forward to seeing you soon!
