* empirical social-geographical fieldwork in the Middle East and North Africa

* topics: rural social change, development, youth studies, mountain and steppe pastoralism, methods of knowledge transfer in environmental policy

* dissertation: understand socio-economic transformations and drought in eastern Morocco with the analytical help of actor-network theory
