Abstract

Matthias Schwendemann is a research associate in the fields of linguistics and applied linguistics at the Herder Institute of the University of Leipzig. His research and teaching focuses on lexicology (especially word formation), scientific language, and the acquisition and development of German as a foreign and second language. In addition, he works on corpus linguistic issues and the study of learner language.



Currently, he is involved in the externally funded project DAKODA (Datenkompetenzen für DaF und DaZ), which is carried out in the Department of Applied Linguistics (Gerhard-Helbig-Professorship).



He is also involved in the development of a student exposé corpus (ExpoKo), which is currently being developed in the Department of Linguistics.



Since October 2019, he is a member of the editorial staff of the journal "Deutsch als Fremdsprache".
