Profile
Abstract
Antje Körner is a pediatrician scientist, appointed Professor of Metabolic Research at Leipzig University and head of the Pediatric Research Center at the University Childrens Hospital and of "Childhood Obesity and Metabolic Research" unit at the Institute of Metabolic, Obesity and Vascular Research (HI-MAG) at Helmholtz Munich and Leipzig University.
She is member of board of directors of the German Center of Child and Adolescent Health (DZKJ) and of the Collaborative Research Center “Obesity Mechanisms Leipzig".
Her research focuses on the origin, mechanisms and consequences of childhood obesity following a holistic translational approach integrating experimental science, epidemiologic, genetic and clinical approaches (h-index 60). Her ambition is to overcome the treatment gap in pediatric obesity through risk-profiling and understanding of mechanisms.
She received numerous national and international awards and has raised >8 Mio € competitive research grants, incl. EU, DFG, BMBF.
