She is a Professor (W3) of Immuno-Oncology at the University of Leipzig, Director of the Institute of Clinical Immunology at Leipzig University Hospital, and Head of the Fraunhofer Institute for Cell Therapy and Immunology (IZI) in Leipzig.
She is a member of the Saxon Academy of Sciences in Leipzig.
Her primary research focuses on the development and production of cell and gene therapies, particularly for the treatment of cancer patients, as well as immunomonitoring in clinical trials.
She is the spokesperson for several EU consortia and the "SaxoCell" Future Cluster for cell/gene therapies and serves as an expert advisor to regulatory authorities and cooperation partners.
