FAQ for your visit on the Augustusplatz campus

Who can take part in the University Information Day?

Anyone interested in studying at our university, especially school pupils, is cordially invited to attend.

Is registration necessary for the events and offers?

No, registration is not usually necessary. However, we recommend that you arrive early so that you can get your bearings and secure a seat for your preferred event.

You only need to register for our campus tours. You can register on site at the information desk inside the Neues Augusteum.

How do I get there?

The Augustusplatz campus is located in Leipzig city centre. We recommend that you travel by public transport, as a high volume of traffic is expected in the city centre during the event weekend.

Public transport

  • Travelling by train: 
    The Augustusplatz campus is just a few minutes walk from the main train station.
  • Travelling by tram:
    You can reach the Augustusplatz stop (directly opposite the Neues Augusteum) on lines 4, 7, 12 and 15.
    Other tram lines stop at other points on Leipzigs city centre ring road, for example lines 8, 10, 11, 14 and 16.

Bicycle

  • Bicycles can be securely parked in one of the two bicycle garages directly on the Augustusplatz campus. There are 1,700 parking spaces available.
    1st bicycle garage on the north side of the Paulinum
    2nd bicycle garage on the south side of the Mensa am Park
    Please note the opening and closing times.
  • Further bicycle parking facilities can be found, for example, at Universitätsstraße 1 and at the MDR directly opposite the Gewandhaus.

Car

There are several multi-storey car parks in the city centre. Check the City of Leipzig website for details. Please note that Leipzig city centre is a low-emission zone and may only be entered by vehicles with a green sticker.

Which degree programmes and degrees will be presented?

We will present our bachelors and masters degree programmes as well as our diploma and state examination degree programmes.

Are the event rooms labelled?

You will find the location and room details for the individual events in our event programme. All rooms in the lecture theatre building and seminar building are signposted. At the information desk in the Neues Augusteum you will also receive a map of the information stands on site.

Be sure to drop by our student speed dating, take part in a campus tour or visit the Q&A with our student ambassadors. Our students look forward to talking to you and telling you about student life in Leipzig.

Will there be guided tours of the campus?

Yes, you can discover the central campus and the campus library on exciting guided tours.

Our students will show you around the Neues Augusteum on the Augustusplatz campus and, for example, our lecture theatre building, lecture rooms, the bicycle garages and the refectory. You will learn interesting facts about the University, Leipzig and studying. Of course you can also ask your questions.

You can find the dates for the guided tours in our programme overview.

For the campus tours, please register on site at the information desk in the Neues Augsuteum. You do not need to register for the guided tours of the campus library.

What is the best way to prepare for the University Information Day?

Our tips to help you get the most out of your visit:

  • Find out about the programme in advance
    Get an overview in advance via our event overview. Use the filter to put together your own individual programme. Dont miss any presentations or information offers that are relevant to you.
  • Bring your questions with you
    Whether its about your desired degree programme, the application process or financing your studies make a note of your questions so that you dont forget anything important on site.
  • Visit our welcome event
    We look forward to welcoming you at 10am in our Audimax (Auditorium maximum) in the Neues Augusteum for the University Information Day.
  • Be brave
    Take the opportunity to talk to our students and lecturers, explore the campus and gain a comprehensive picture of our university.

Can I take part online?

Most of the programmes and events take place in person. If there are online events, you will find them in the event programme if you set the “Type of event” filter to “hybrid” or “online”.

Where can I find refreshments on campus?

Yes, you can enjoy refreshments at our street food stalls in the courtyard at the Augustusplatz campus throughout the day of the event. Expect a wide selection of food and drinks, including vegetarian and vegan options.

Are the venues barrier-free?

The event venues are barrier-free. Please let us know by 5 May 2025 how we can support you so that you can participate in our events. Please send us an email to studieninformationstag(at)uni-leipzig.de.

Is there free wireless internet on campus?

You can access the university WLAN via the eduinfo network on the day of the event. No user account is required for use. Please use the settings below to connect to the wireless network. Select the appropriate event, enter the corresponding password and accept the terms of use in order to connect your device.
